Preserving evidence of the Holocaust Compact shelving in cold storageThe Holocaust Museum in Washington, D.C. built an off-site facility to preserve its growing collections. The new facility included cold storage for photos, film, and other chemically reactive materials. Maintaining temperature and humidity levels in cold storage is expensive, so the project designers wanted to store as many materials as possible in the smallest amount of space. They worked with the local Spacesaver consultant to design compact storage systems to keep collections organized and accessible while also eliminating wasted space and improving energy efficiency.
