Spacesaver converts an aging electronic system to mechanical assist operationAn electronic compact mobile system was installed at the Missouri Botanical Gardens’ herbarium by a now-defunct Spacesaver competitor in the 1970s and 80s. Faculty and staff recently wanted to convert the system to Spacesaver’s mechanical assist, but they had a number of requirements. For instance, in keeping with the Gardens’ commitment to sustainability, all discarded materials had to be recycled and the existing rails, carriages, and shelving were to be retained. And in order to minimize risk to the botanical collections, no specimens were to be moved unless absolutely necessary. The local Spacesaver distributor worked with Spacesaver’s engineers and project managers to design and install a solution. |
