The children’s area of the DeKalb Public Library in DeKalb, IL, was completely redesigned as part of a $25.3 million renovation and expansion project. Library staff advocated strongly for browsing bins in the children’s area that would allow children to see the books’ cover art. “We know that spine-out storage is convenient for parents and librarians, but it’s not ideal for kids,” said Library Director Dee Coover. “They need to see the book covers to determine their own selections.”
The new children’s area features row upon row of child-height browsing bins on Spacesaver’s cantilever frames. The library got the best possible pricing on this high-quality product by purchasing it on the NJPA contract.
