Museum cabinets from different companies might look the same at first glance, but you’ll notice important differences when you take a closer look. Safety is one of the primary ways that the Spacesaver Viking Preservation Cabinet 920 Series stands out from the competition.
High-density mobile system optimizes space and increases capacity
When a Midwestern cancer center expanded to treat more patients, staff urged the project design team to set aside space for better storage.
They had been struggling with inadequate medical supply storage in the existing facility for more than ten years, and they knew that treating more patients would require even more supplies. They also knew that storage would take up space that could otherwise be used for patient care.
The design team called on the local Spacesaver consultant for advice on optimizing space, increasing storage capacity, and promoting efficiency in the newly expanded facility. See the Spacesaver solution:
The biggest challenge in planning a collections area is usually dealing with future uncertainty: How will collections grow over time? Could collecting priorities shift in a few years? Will we ever get more room to expand collections storage?
The versatile interior of the Viking Preservation Cabinet 920 Series helps take some of the stress out of collections space planning. Its interchangeable panels allow museum professionals to swap out accessories as collections change over time.See how Spacesaver helped the Frazier Museum in Louisville, Kentucky:
With no available storage space for long guns, officers at a large state university’s police department had to transport the weapons to and from work in their personal vehicles. Aside from being a hassle, this arrangement presented obvious security issues. In addition, officers had to store their duty bags in unsecured cubbies during their off hours.
To improve safety, security, and convenience, each officer needed a locker that would be large enough to hold a duty bag and a long gun in its case. The problem? Space was limited, with no room to expand.See the Spacesaver solution and help your clients learn more:
Working with military personnel to keep gear ready and secure
When the US military needs custom storage products, they know they can count on Spacesaver to design solutions that save lives, save time, and save money. Our engineers, manufacturing professionals, and local sales reps have been collaborating with the military for decades, creating products like the original Universal Weapons Rack, a variety of custom lockers, and the new Mobility Crate.Read the full story and help your clients learn more:
Keeping personal belongings secure and away from fragile equipment
The design team for a state university’s new science building put a lot of thought into the labs, classrooms, and other areas. Unfortunately, though, they didn’t think about storage for personal belongings.
The lack of personal storage became an issue as soon as the labs opened, because food, drink, backpacks, bags, and personal electronic devices were prohibited in the labs. As a result, students had to pile their items in the corridor outside the labs’ entrances.
To get personal belongings up off the floor, Spacesaver created Day Use Lockers with keypad locks with an integrated handle, and the design team chose high-pressure laminate (HPL) doors in the university’s colors to create a dramatic accent in the corridor.Help your clients learn more:
Ensuring code compliance and optimizing canopy area
When the owners of a cannabis firm retrofitted an existing building to create a new indoor cultivation facility, they wanted to boost productivity by optimizing grow area.
As with many retrofits, the facility’s architectural constraints required creativity and custom layouts. The owners and the cultivation manager worked with the San Francisco-area Spacesaver consultant to design a GROW Mobile System that would optimize yields in the facility’s six grow rooms.Help your clients learn more:
Optimizing space aboard a decommissioned aircraft carrier
Spacesaver helps protect collections in museums of all shapes and sizes, even when they’re located in places that were never intended to be used as museums. The USS Yorktown, for example, was an aircraft carrier before being decommissioned by the US Navy fifty years ago. It’s now anchored at Patriot’s Point near Charleston, S.C., where it serves as a maritime museum.
Among the artifacts stored on board is a collection of flags that commemorate the ship and the times during which it sailed. Finding a way to organize and properly store the museum’s historic flags was a challenging task, especially given the oddly shaped spaces that were designated for museum storage onboard the vessel. Securing personal belongings and protecting special collections
When a major urban library underwent a complete interior renovation, staff wanted to improve public access to the expanded special collections area while continuing to protect the rare and fragile objects in the collections.
They prohibited patrons from bringing food and other potentially damaging items into the special collections area, so they needed to provide secure temporary storage nearby. The design team chose Spacesaver’s sturdy steel locker frame encased in custom wooden doors and surrounds. Help your clients learn more:

Intensive growing operation optimizes space and maximizes yields
When a cannabis cultivation firm acquired an 80-year-old building in Oregon and set out to convert it to a modern cannabis grow, the design team wanted to optimize space throughout the facility. Space in all the rooms was tight, with about 12 feet in width, 40 feet in length, and varying ceiling heights.
Spacesaver’s Oregon-based cannabis consultant designed a GROW mobile system that integrates perfectly with the firm’s unique approach to growing cannabis, which is an intensive cultivation style with high plant density. A local fabrication shop supplied steel inserts. Help your clients learn more:
