Spacesaver’s space planners and engineers can collaborate with architects and designers to create retail spaces that are functional, practical, and visually stunning.
The new Canada Goose flagship store in Toronto illustrates how this approach can create a unique retail experience.
In addition to a new ballpark, practice area, locker rooms, and a player lounge, the new Jane Sanders Stadium at the University of Oregon boasts a sleek equipment room with laundry facilities, work areas, and a Spacesaver compact mobile storage system.
The Spacesaver system doubles as a display of the softball team’s uniforms and gear. In the photo above at left, the attractive display greets staff and student athletes when they enter the building. At right above, the system has been opened from inside the equipment room to allow staff to update the display.
The interior of the system has been configured to provide specialized storage for bats, helmets, apparel, and other gear. The system operates via touchscreen controls, and custom end panels complete the look.
Spacesaver has developed “raceway frames” that allow lighting fixtures to be installed on cantilever shelving. The frames are sturdy and strong, enclosing a hollow conduit to provide space for electrical wiring. This allows the project’s lighting contractor to install fixtures that brighten the stacks and complement the building’s interior design.
This ETO option is available in any standard or custom cantilever shelving size, and Spacesaver can also design custom steel mounting brackets for lighting fixtures and accessories. Raceway frames are primarily used in static shelving applications.
In addition to offering evidence lockers in a wide variety of standard configurations, Spacesaver’s engineering team can create custom solutions for any facility. For example, the team created these see-through lockers at the Tucson Police Department’s evidence storage facility.
Before Spacesaver’s recent acquisition of Viking Metal Cabinet Company, the two firms worked together at several prestigious institutions. One of their most innovative collaborations involved the creation of an immersive learning environment at the Wurtele Study Center at Yale University.
In collaboration with other top-quality vendors, Spacesaver and Viking created a sleek, functional, open learning environment that keeps works of art organized and protected while permitting better access to the collection.
Spacesaver’s perforated shelving and end panels can improve collections care in a variety of ways: they improve ventilation, help facilities comply with fire codes, and help drain accidental fluid leaks in wet collections areas.
The LA Kings’ equipment manager wanted a secure way to store game day gear and supplies at the Staples Center.
In addition to providing horizontal storage for sticks and convenient access to other gear and supplies, the team’s new Spacesaver storage system creates a lockable storage area. This is important because the Staples Center frequently hosts concerts and other events on non-game days.
Because cold storage is essential for the long-term preservation of film, animal pelts, and other items that tend to deteriorate quickly, a growing number of museums are installing freezers and coolers to create optimal storage conditions for their collections. A large natural history museum, for instance, recently built a cooler and a freezer to house its image collection. Spacesaver’s Free-Standing Pull-Out Art Racks were developed to store hanging art without attaching permanent fixtures to ceilings, walls, or floors. The entire structure, including the rails, can be relocated if necessary, and additional modules can be added as collections expand.
Spacesaver’s engineers developed these modular, pull-out art racks to improve organization and storage conditions while making the best use of limited space. The racks can be designed and manufactured to client specifications.
The WeaponWRX® Storage System stores weapons and accessories securely and efficiently. The modular steel frames can be outfitted with specialized accessories to accommodate virtually any combination of small arms, as well as ammunition, repair parts, and more.
Our engineering team can even accept special requests to modify components for unique applications. For instance, the Australian federal police wanted to store a greater number of long guns on FrameWRX® Storage System carts. They requested two ETO items: a full-width horizontal half-shelf with brackets that would fit into the cantilever frame, and modified gun bases that would store more long guns in a narrower space.
