364: Pharmacy Gravity Bins

Delivering An Efficient Design Diagnosis

Healthcare workers have an innumerable number of details to consider in their daily efforts to care for those in their charge. Unfortunately, accounting for efficient storage in the design phase of projects within their facility tends to not be one of those considerations.

In the case of a Utah State Hospital, an improvement project left staff without a clearly defined storage space for their pharmacological needs. Have no fear, Matt Thomas, Spacesaver’s local consultant at Spacesaver Intermountain, was ready to answer that office call and was soon on-site to conduct a thorough space examination. Working with direction from the hospital’s staff and the support of Spacesaver’s in-house design, engineering, and AC support teams, he was able to deserve a functional solution with a twist.

Knowing the pharmacy needed quick and easy access to its wide array of supplies, Matt took a cue from the way the local convenience store marketed their goods. With a photo of the potato chip display at-hand, he worked with our engineering team to create a shelving solution with dividers and a clear bin front that would keep supplies visible and ready for distribution.
