Vol. 328: Anatomy Lab Cabinets

Protecting and storing valuable study aids

When the anatomy department at this college of podiatry was relocated to a new, smaller space in the building, the professors needed to optimize storage of their collection of study aids, which includes delicate and expensive human bones. The new space was about 30% smaller. Realizing they needed professional help to make the best use of the space, they contacted their nearby Spacesaver consultant for assistance.

He assessed the collection of bones and other study aids and designed locking Spacesaver 4-Post “cabinets” for two separate areas in the department.

Could a school or campus in your territory use a similar solution?

Reminder that Spacesaver will be closed Friday, July 2, and Monday, July 5, in observance of Independence Day. Have a safe and happy 4th of July!

Vol. 326: Reinvesting in Reliability

A major pharmaceutical company updates powered mobile systems

A powered Spacesaver system is central to this large pharmaceutical laboratory’s efficient operation. The company employs a full-time attendant who uses the system to retrieve and stock items like chemicals and lab supplies, and the system is in near-constant use every business day and even on some weekends.

The company also has two more powered Spacesaver systems in retention rooms that store paper documents like instrument qualifications.

All three of the systems functioned well for decades, but, just like other electronic systems in the facility, the electronic components eventually needed an update.

Vol. 325: Custom Lockers for Central Park

Keeping grounds crews comfortable and organized

Grounds crews for the Central Park Conservancy in Manhattan work outdoors year-round, in all weather, to keep the park clean and safe for visitors. After their shifts, they return to their locker room with muddy boots, snowy hats, or wet raincoats.

An architect for the Conservancy wondered if she could acquire sturdy, high-quality police-style lockers for the hard-working crews. She called in local Spacesaver consultants, who visited the locker room, assessed the space, and collaborated with Spacesaver’s engineers to design custom lockers that were a perfect fit.

Vol. 324: Space for School Archives

Consolidating an archive to make room for social distancing

When COVID created the need for social distancing and smaller class sizes, staff at the Hawken School had to relocate the institution’s archive to make room for an additional classroom.

The archive’s new location was more convenient to staff offices, but it was significantly smaller. Staff called on Spacesaver to design storage solutions for the new space.

See how Spacesaver helped consolidate storage and promote better access to the school’s archive!
